The most common training support for unexperienced new hires is on-the-job-training (OJT). This is the case for several reasons that revolve around time constraints such as ready-to-start jobs and the slow pace of training a new worker.
- The main problem with OJT training is safety; new works without a clear understating of the safety issue on the job are a potential danger to themselves, the crew and the job itself.
- The second problem is productivity of the worker; an untrained worker creates negative productivity during the first few weeks due to the fact that they do not know how to do their job and a seasoned worker must spend time showing them how to do it.
Most solar PV installation courses are expensive and lengthy. With the exception for the potential safety issues, this method of training new workers may be less efficient than OJT.

Higher level training of the solar job force is important and should parallel with their time working for a solar PV contractor; this is cost effective.
